The Love Letters Project
In August 2013 a callout was made for anonymous love letters to be sent
to a small country post office west of Sydney. Each day, for 2 weeks,
the artist rode her bicycle from BigCi Artist Residency to collect the
mail, documenting the project on the blog: lovelettersincerely.wordpress.com.
sincerely yours,is a performance based on the content of the letters,
devised in collaboration with soprano composer Eve Klein.The letters
cross the space between distant people: the resonance created by that
communication forms the basis for this performance.
Part
of the installation being exhibited at Watusaman Gallery will include a
writing desk. Visitors to the exhibition are invited to sit and write
contributions to this ongoing project, to be included in the blog;
lovelettersincerely.wordpress.com.
The Love Letters Project was realized under the Very Terry Reid Award
Artist Residency at BigCi: Bilpin International Ground for Creative
Initiatives.
AñA Wojak is an award winning cross-discipinary
artist working in performance, assemblage, installation, painting and
theatre design with a particular interest in site-specificity, ritual
and altered states. Often durational in nature, she creates visually
poetic pieces that resonate with a visceral depth.
Based in Northern
Rivers NSW, her work has been shown extensively throughout Australia
and internationally. She has worked with Tony Yap Co, Pacitti Co,
senVoodoo (co-founder), La Pocha Nostra & Felix Ruckert, amongst
others. She has been exhibiting for over 30 years and was the recipient
of the prestigious Blake Prize in 2004.
She recently appeared
in Exist~ence Festival in Brisbane and Undisclosed Territories7 in Solo.
She will be performing at Melaka Arts Festival, Malaysia in November.
In 2014 she is designing The Pomegranate Cycle for Prometheus Opera and
showing stepping stones… .. the culmination of a 4 year project
re-tracing the family’s migration from Europe, at Lismore Regional Art
Gallery alongside a 30 year survey show at The Channon Gallery, NSW.

Proyek surat-surat cinta
Pada bulan agustus 2013 sebuah pengerahan di buat untuk surat-surat
cinta tanpa nama untuk dikirimkan ke sebuah kantor pos daerah kecil di
bagian barat Sidney.
Setiap hari, selama 2 minggu sang artist
mengendarai sepedanya dari BigCi Artist Residency guna mengumpulkan
surat, mendokumentasikan proyeknya ke dalam blog:

sincerely yours, adalah sebuah performance yang berdasarkan isi
surat-surat tersebut, di usung dengan berkolaborasi bersama komposer
soprano Eve Klein, surat-surat terbentang di sepanjang tempat diantara
orang-orang yg berjauhan jaraknya: gema yang tercipta dari komunikasi
tersebut merupakan bentuk dasar untuk performance ini.
Bagian dari instalasi akan dipamerkan di Galeri Watusaman yang akan
menyertakan meja untuk menulis. Pengunjung pameran di ajak untuk ikut
serta duduk dan menuliskan kontribusinya untuk proyek yang akan
dilangsungkan ini, yang akan disertakan ke dalam blog:

Dalam workshop ini akan mengeksplorasi efek dari keheningan dalam performance art dan kualitas dari kehadiran untuk membantu menyampaikan kesan yang kuat. Secara meditatif, penekanan fisik dan latihan khusus, untuk para performers akan menginspirasikan performance individu yang akan dipresentasikan bersama di ruang publik pada akhir hari.
Biografi
Martin Renaud berasal dari Prancis-Canada, seniman interdisiplin dan produser tinggal di Sydney. Dia menampilkan performance art, instalasi, project seni media dalam berbagai festival di Canada, Australia, dan Malaysia sejak 1999. In this workshop we will be exploring the effect of stillness in performance art and the quality of presence to convey a strong impression on the assistance. Meditative states, physical restraints and exercises in focus for performers will inspire individual performances to be presented collectively in a public site at the end of the day.
Biography
Martin Renaud is a French-Canadian interdisciplinary artist and producer living in Sydney. He presented Performance Art, Installation and Media Art projects in various festivals in Canada, Australia and Malaysia since 1999. His performances are inspired by Nicolas Bourriaud’s Esthetique Relationnelle and FLUXUS. Martin is co-producing Grobak Padi with Mike Hornblow for ISEA 2013 in Sydney/ Wayang Ukur, Yogyakarta. www.martinrenaud.com
