Latar Belakang (English Version Below)

1. Peningkatan populasi manusia melebihi jumlah produksi pangan dan energi.
2. Percepatan pembangunan perumahan mengurangi luas lahan persawahan, perkebunan dan perhutanan, tanpa diimbangi kemungkinan praktek baru produksi pangan dan energi, maupun kebijakan pemerintah yang kurang melindungi jumlah luas lahan pangan produktif.

 Background (Indonesian Version Above)

Arts Events Throughout the Year - "LAST HARVEST 2012" is situated in the rice fields of Jeblog and Nitiprayan. Organized by arts and cultural community Matra Guard, it responds to the present situation in the world of agriculture. The threat of a food crisis due to the depreciation of productive land in its conversion to residential land, shops and stalls, is a condition that must be observed by all parties, including the artists and cultural workers. This is achieved in the Last Harvest festival with exhibitions - installing different types of sculpture to criticize the condition, as well as various types of performances in around rice fields during the program.

The shrinkage of land on the island of Java is high enough. In West Java it reaches 3000 hectares per year. Around the rural area where the program is held, depreciation of productive agricultural land is about 15 hectares in 5 years. Although the government has issued regulations to address the issue, they have not been able to stem the flow of development that threatens rural production land. The problem of food in Indonesia cannot be separated from government policies that are not pro-people, especially farmers. There is potential for agriculture in Indonesia, including the best in the world, in terms of broad and fertile lands, but in reality there is a large dependence on imports of several commodities, more than 51 natural resources of our needs are imported.

Some indicators are worth recognizing and should be restyled if we want to avoid a food, farming and cultural crisis. These are;
1. Increased human population exceeds food production and energy.
2. Accelerating the development of housing reduces the area of paddy fields, plantations and forestry, without offset the possibility of new practices in food production and energy. As well as government policies that protects the vast amount of less land productive food.
3. Culture near abandoned farming life lost with pop culture, regeneration and promotion of farmers farming culture failed.
4. In connection with the instant culture, developing waste disposal practices in the rivers and on productive land where the rubbish is buried or burned, along with the consumption of instant food that is not healthy, are negative factors associated with the condition to create a healthy society in the world independent of food and energy.
